World Boss vs Weekly Boss — What Is the Difference
Ragnarok: The New World separates high-tier PvE into two tracks: World Bosses spawn in the open world on a rotating schedule and accept up to 40 simultaneous participants; Weekly Bosses are instanced raid-style encounters tied to a one-per-week lockout per boss. World Bosses test raw coordination; Weekly Bosses test optimized party composition and learnable mechanics.
Both tracks drop the same tier of rewards — Star Crumb, Shadow Gear pieces, refine protection stones, and rare cards — but the currency differs. World Bosses reward participation loot and a placement-based chest; Weekly Bosses reward clear loot and a fixed weekly chest. Most serious players run both tracks each week.
Pair this guide with MVP Hunting for open-world boss cadence and Siege War for the PvP-boss crossover.

Each spawn is announced in the Event tab 10 minutes before the timer. World Bosses ignore party roles — anyone in the zone at spawn time contributes based on damage dealt, healing throughput, and damage taken.
Weekly Boss Instances and Lockouts
Weekly Bosses require party assembly through the Event tab. Five instances are available each week with a single clear per character:
- Nidhogg's Shadow Lair (Lv.70) — single-target DPS check with healing-absorb phases.
- Fallen Bishop (Lv.75) — magic-damage-heavy boss with curse debuffs. Wizard carry recommended.
- Beelzebub's Castle (Lv.75) — adds management, AoE survival. Druid supports shine.
- Thanatos Tower (Lv.78) — phase-based boss with environment hazards.
- Valkyrie's Trial (Lv.80) — endgame ladder boss; tied to the Tournament Roadmap.
Lockouts reset Wednesday at server reset. Each character may clear each boss once per week; alts help if your static lacks a needed role.
Contribution Scoring and Loot Distribution
World Boss contribution is split into three bands: Damage, Healing, and Tank. Top contributors (top 30% by score) roll on a 3-item loot table. Mid contributors (30–70%) roll on a 2-item table. Bottom contributors receive participation loot only — usually refine materials or a single card.
Weekly Bosses use a fixed loot table for the party. Loot is rolled greed/need style with class-priority rules. Tanks get first claim on defensive gear, supports first on heal-boost pieces, DPS on weapons. Bring your best gear; the boss checks item level and stats for some loot eligibility.
Use the ASPD Calculator to confirm you meet the breakpoints expected for damage rank.
Role Responsibilities
Tank: Hold aggro, rotate defensive cooldowns, position the boss away from ranged. Knight and Paladin dominate this role. See Knight Tank Build and Paladin Reflect.
Damage: Coordinate burst windows with the boss's vulnerability phase. Gunslinger, Mage, Assassin, and Hunter ADL are the standard picks. Stack your weapon refine before the raid.
Healer / Support: Manage party-wide cooldowns. Priest and Druid (Human form) are the only dedicated healers. Acolyte/Priest Build details here: Acolyte / Priest. Druid's Nature's Sanctuary ultimate can full-heal the party during scripted damage phases.
How to Summon and Join a World Boss
Spawn is automatic — World Bosses appear in their zone at the listed time. To participate:
- Open the Event tab and tap World Boss Tracker 10 minutes before spawn.
- Wing to the spawn zone or use the Kafra teleport. Free Wing Unlock Guide: Free Wing Unlock.
- Join the raid channel via the prompt that appears on zone entry.
- Position inside the safe spawn radius — players outside the radius do not receive contribution credit.
World Bosses are first-come, first-served for slot allocation; if a zone hits 40 active participants, additional arrivals are queued. Server populations around 21:00 WIB typically fill all slots within 3 minutes.
Weekly Reset and Loot Planning
Weekly lockout reset happens Wednesday 04:00 server time. Plan your weekly boss progression around this reset:
- Week start: clear highest-tier Weekly Bosses you have gear for.
- Mid-week: World Bosses for participation loot.
- Weekend: Guild League and Siege War — separate cadence, see Guild League.
Reserve Star Stones for the raid chests you actually clear; Star Stones Guide explains why. Pair raid sessions with Weekly Reset Schedule to optimize.
