The Short Answer
Play it if you live in SEA (or accept SEA ping), like open-world Midgard, and will use Job Freedom instead of rerolling eight characters. Wait if you need a Spanish client, a North America shard, or a Steam review score that is not Mostly Negative. Spend carefully if you install anyway: First Top-Up is the only “must” for low spenders; costume and pet gacha are how wallets leave F2P behind.
Steam published July 26, 2026. Mid-August snapshots sat near 29% positive from ~778 reviews. Gravity’s store FAQ answers ping, the extra launcher, and Star Stone shop cuts — it does not pretend the score is a joke. FAQ: Steam Studio FAQ. No NA date: Global & NA/EU Release.

What the Game Gets Right
- Job Freedom — one character, eight jobs, free stat/skill reset. Classic RO never did this. Strategy: Job Freedom Strategy.
- Safe refine to +15 — gear does not shatter on fail in the advertised window. Planner: Safe Refinement.
- Open world Prontera and real MVP hunts, not a corridor lobby. Prontera.
- Druid as an eighth class with three forms — Druid Build.
Where It Feels Pay-to-Win
Launch review videos (including Should You Play Ragnarok The New World?) hammer the same systems:
- Costume collection — passive HP that scales with how many looks you own (creator sample: ~230 HP from 13 costumes, extrapolating toward thousands if you owned hundreds of entries). Page: Costume Collection.
- Headgear gacha — combat hats are not the same as costumes. Red headgear wants gacha materials.
- Pet gacha — SR pets often around every 20 pulls in creator experience; SSR pity around 20. You can buy infinite SSR tickets with Star Stones, which is how day-one pet levels happen. Catch without cash: World Catch.
- Title levels — on the order of 30 levels and ~2% damage per level difference in those same reviews. Title System.
None of that deletes Mage AoE or a +12 weapon. It does mean a whale’s HP bar and pet burst will look unfair in Arena. PvP ranks: PvP Tier List.
Who Should Install This Week
SEA players on day 45: redeem eleven codes, set secondary password, run week eight, show up Monday August 31 Siege. Codes: All Redeem Codes. PC vs emulator: Emulator vs Steam. Spend ladder: First Top-Up & Passes.
If you only wanted classic WoE on a US east server, this is the wrong product today. If you wanted open-world RO with a Druid, it is live.
