Death, Revive, and Wipe Recovery in Ragnarok: The New World

What Happens When You Die

ROW is softer than classic RO on most open-field deaths: you choose a revive point, pay a small repair or consumable cost when gear durability ticks, and return. Exact Zeny / EXP penalties vary by content flag — open field, Time Corridor wipe, and Siege death are not the same table. Read the on-screen confirm before you mash the first button in a crowded Prontera plaza.

Gear does not shatter on death. Safe refine already removed break-on-fail; death will not delete your +12 either. Repair mats and potion stock are the real tax — stash spares in Kafra Storage.

Field Revive vs Walking Back

  • Return to save / Kafra point — free or cheap; costs run time back to the farm map.
  • Field revive consumable — instant stand-up for MVP contribution windows.
  • Privilege Pass field revive — convenience SKU on the spend ladder; not mandatory for F2P Corridor clears — First Top-Up & Passes.

MVP etiquette: if the party still has the boss under 30%, field revive and keep contributing. If the pull is dead, save the consumable and reset cleanly — MVP Hunt Priority.

Siege and Hard Content

Monday Siege deaths are expected. Bind consumables before 20:45 WIB on August 31. Asura Monks who die into Paladin reflect should read Asura Strike and Paladin Reflect before the next pull — the penalty is the lost cast, not a hidden EXP drain.

Corridor wipes restart from the last checkpoint on most difficulties — Time Corridor. Bring a healer role sheet from Party Roles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I lose refine on death?
No. Refine stays. You may pay repair durability and lose the pull’s contribution if you stay dead.
Is Privilege Pass required to revive?
No. It adds convenience field revives and QoL. F2P players use consumables or walk back.
Why did I revive in Izlude?
Your save point was never updated after the tutorial. Talk to Kafra in Prontera and set the capital as return.
