The Three Core Roles
Every coordinated group in Ragnarok: The New World maps to three familiar MMORPG roles — even when eight classes swap jobs mid-week through Job Freedom:
| Role | Job examples | Primary job |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Knight, Crusader, high-VIT Swordsman | Hold aggro, face bosses away from party, soak telegraphed hits |
| DPS | Gunslinger, Mage, Hunter, Assassin, Druid forms | Deal damage, break adds, hit contribution thresholds on MVPs |
| Healer / Support | Priest, Acolyte lines, Bard buffers | Keep party alive, cleanse debuffs, maintain buff uptime |
ROW contribution loot on MVP Hunting explicitly rewards tanks and healers — not only top DPS. Supports who heal consistently often outscore undergeared strikers sitting at the edge of the fight.
Time Corridor Compositions
Time Corridor is ROW's daily gear dungeon — three entries per day with checkpoint saves. Recommended week three comps from Dungeons Guide:
- Standard four-role: one tank, one healer, two DPS with crowd control — freeze or stun for add wings.
- Guild premade: two healers when running double wings back-to-back; DPS fatigue kills pugs faster than boss DPS checks.
- Job Freedom flex: one player swaps from Mage farmer to Priest healer before queue — no reroll required. Strategy: Job Freedom Strategy.
Tanks should pre-position before chrono-collapse mechanics; healers track MP pools across multi-wing sessions. DPS players save burst cooldowns for boss phases, not trash packs, unless bonus chest timers demand speed.
MVP Hunt Role Checklist
Open-world MVPs punish role confusion. Assign responsibilities before pull:
- Tank — face boss, call phase changes, pick up add aggro if linkers spawn.
- Healer — focus tank first, then highest-contribution DPS; bring resist pots matching boss element.
- DPS — stay inside contribution range; dying resets your meter progress on some bosses.
- Flex — Druid hybrids peel adds in Werewolf, then swap to ranged for safe phases — Druid Build.
Post-reset MVP windows remain week three priority one — MVP Hunt Priority. Guild callouts from Guild Guide beat random zerg groups for loot consistency.
Brave Trial and Endless Tower
Weekly Brave Trial and Endless Tower expect tighter role discipline than open-field farming:
- Brave Trial — weekly material mode; bring one dedicated healer even if your DPS is strong. Consumables matter — stock resist food.
- Endless Tower — vertical climb with escalating floors; tanks anchor floor transitions while DPS focuses priority adds. Full guide: Endless Tower.
Clear both before weekly maintenance alongside Time Corridor dailies — Week Three Guide lists them in the 60-minute daily block.
Job Freedom Party Flexibility
Job Freedom lets one character cover multiple roles across the week — not necessarily in one fight. Practical week three setup:
- Main farmer — Mage or Gunslinger for solo Energy farming.
- Party role — Priest or Knight build on the same account for guild nights.
- Experiment slot — Druid hybrid for MVP flex without committing refine to eight jobs.
