Ragnarok: The New World Launch Balance Patch

Why This Patch Matters

Gravity Game Vision applied a pre-launch balance and optimization pass after the Genesis Test closed June 21, 2026. The goal is smoother combat rhythm and fairer class identity before Southeast Asia servers open — not a full meta reset, but enough to address CBT outliers like Gunslinger SP spam and Mage burst cadence.

This patch adjusts the seven classic job lines. Druid debuts fresh at SEA launch and is not part of this rebalance. Cross-check tier impact on the Class Tier List and revisit individual builds linked from the All Classes Overview.

Gunslinger Adjustments

Hundred Steps Piercing Yang now has a 1-second cooldown and 0.5-second fixed cast time — less infinite poke, more deliberate burst windows. Devastating Strike cooldown reduced. Main damage skills — Full Power, Wildfire, Unique Bullet, Spiral Shot — consume significantly less SP, keeping Gunslinger viable for early MVP without endless spam.

Cast speed on Unique Bullet, Spiral Design, Shrapnel, and Full Power now scales with attack speed. Special skills Drone Frenzy buffs automatic grenade launcher damage; Hunting Dance adds high control resistance. Gunslinger remains S-tier for MVP races; Mage still wins raw leveling speed.

Mage, Hunter, and Knight Changes

Wizard: Magic Amplification shifts from flat MATK to magic skill damage; fixed cast reductions become variable cast reductions. Meteor Spell cooldown increased. New second-job trait Concentration Spell grants -35% variable cast. Icy Cold boosts water damage multiplier on frozen targets.

Hunter: Progressive Shot no longer extends basic bow range — only bow skills. Falcon Assault links to Lightning Strike multiplier buffs; Burst Shot vulnerability removed. Mind Focus now adds Luck and ASPD for its duration. Falconer PvE crit on Burst Claw improved.

Knight: Counterattack at level 5 reduces damage taken from monsters by 30%. Charge Attack with a spear applies stun instead of immobilize. Concentrated Attack shifts from physical attack to physical skill damage. Spirit Sword Qi multiplier removed; Rage Release no longer reduces healing received passively.

Assassin, Priest, and Merchant

Assassin: Blood Blade cooldown up, multiplier down; Fatal Poison duration up with Poison Blade multiplier +600%. Sonic Blow and Spinning Blade can now crit. Gauntlet combo and short-sword base stats trimmed — burst ceiling shifts toward crit builds.

Priest: Judgment multiplier increased with faster cadence; Cross Exorcism attack multiplier up. Purification Hammer and Rebirth Lightning gain cooldowns with tuned multipliers — Battle Priest and support lines both touched.

Merchant / Blacksmith: Cart acceleration increased; Cart finishing move normalized to 220% at all levels. Axe skills SP costs optimized; several cart and axe multipliers reduced. Economy role unchanged — combat DPS slightly trimmed pre-endgame cart unlock.

Feature Optimizations (Non-Class)

Beyond class kits, the patch ships quality-of-life and economy tweaks:

  • Monster Extermination: Fate Unbinding Potion guarantees non-bound purple card drops when active; shop price reduced to 1,500 Assist Coins.
  • Auction House: Loot auction items now bind on acquisition.
  • Radiant Rift: Paradise Coin drops 1–5 per run; chest interaction time increased.
  • Endless Tower: Difficulty reduced after floor 30.
  • ASPD display: Two decimal places in character UI.
  • Marriage: Weddings available daily 00:00–23:00.
  • Build Master: Requirement lowered — Rune Engine resonance Level 1 now sufficient for build save slots.
  • Midgard Tour / Evil Chest: Exploration completion count increased to 5 for related rewards.
  • Geffen Labyrinth: Story dungeon bug fixes and interaction polish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this patch apply at SEA launch?
Yes. The balance pass targets the July 2026 SEA Open Beta service — not retroactive to the wiped Genesis Test.
Is Druid affected?
No. Druid is new at SEA launch and was not part of this classic-line rebalance. Expect separate tuning after live data accumulates.
Did Gunslinger get nerfed or buffed?
Mixed. SP costs dropped and Devastating Strike cooldown improved, but Hundred Steps Piercing Yang gained cooldown and cast time. Net: still top MVP pick, less spammy.
Should I change my starter class because of this patch?
Mage and Gunslinger remain strong openers. Hunter Falconer improves slightly in PvE; Knight gains GvG utility. Use Job Freedom if you want to pivot after week one.
